Macramé with the rhythm of Ericeira
Saline was born from a passion for decoration and interior design. We believe a home changes when every object has a story, so we make each piece by hand, one at a time.
The brand started in Ericeira and wants to bring into your home what this place has: the sound of the sea, the calm, the scent of vegetation on the cliffs. We use 100% cotton cord made in Portugal, wood collected from the forest and shells gathered from the beach.

How a piece is made
From a branch found in nature to the trimmed fringe, everything is done by hand, one piece at a time.
- The designEvery piece starts with a design and the choice of branch or ring. It's the branch that decides the width and, often, the final shape.
- The woodThe branches are gathered from nature. We sand and varnish them so they last, but we keep the curves and knots of the wood.
- The knotsThe cotton cord is cut to size and tied knot by knot, by hand. In a single piece we use several techniques: flat knots, spirals, plaits and nets.
- The finishAt the end, the fringe is combed and trimmed. The measurements are approximate and the branch is never the same, so no two pieces are alike.
- ShippingFinished pieces go out within 1 working day, hand packaged. In the Ericeira, Mafra, Sintra, Queluz and Amadora area we also deliver by hand, free of charge.
The materials
Cotton
100% natural cotton cord, made in Portugal, in the raw colour that defines our pieces. It has no synthetic fibres, is soft to the touch and ages well.
Wood
Branches gathered from nature, sanded and varnished. No two are alike, which is why each piece differs from the photograph.
Shells
Some pieces, like Ocean, feature shells collected from the beach. They're the most direct way to bring the Ericeira sea into your home.
Questions about Saline
Who makes the Saline pieces?
All pieces are handmade, one at a time, in our atelier in Ericeira. We don't mass produce.
Where can I see the pieces in person?
We don't have a physical shop. We sell online and at craft fairs, and we announce the dates on Instagram and in our newsletter.
Do you make pieces to measure?
Yes. On the Customise page you choose the measurements and colour and send inspiration photos. We'll reply with a proposal, usually within 2 working days.
Do you ship across the country and abroad?
Yes. Standard shipping costs € 7 for mainland Portugal and the islands and is free from € 100 . For Europe, € 20 .
Is macramé hard to look after?
No. Just dust it with a vacuum cleaner on low power. If it gets dirty in one spot, brush just that area with water and mild soap, and avoid direct sunlight and humidity.
